The biggest leap towards the modernity and development of the Chhattisgarh region was the establishment of Bhilai Steel Plant at Bhilai. This single step provided to be a key factor in the transformation of agrarian society in to a thriving industrial region. Bhilai city of Chhattisgarh is well known not only for its gigantic industrial base. but also for very high standards of education. There are plenty of good schools catering to the needs of the students. However, it is not the same case for the collegiate and professional education. This is the reason why a large number of the students of Bhilai had to go to other places for the higher education. With above in view some organisation, industrialists, charitable institution and philanthropic societies of the region have taken an initiative for establishing an Engineering educational institution and that resulted in the formation of Bhilai Institute of Technology Trust under whose aegis in July 1986 Bhilai Institute of Technology came in to existence.

Now the Gangajali Education Society, which in a way is sister trust of BIT Trust proposes to provide the avenues for imparting professional knowledge in the field of Commerce, Business Administration. Science (PCM) and Computer and other areas of modern professional world. This trust is already running a modern and well equipped school situated at the Shri Laxmi Narayan Temple Complex, Sector-6 and Hudco, Bhilai and also Shri Shankaracharaya College of Engineering, Junwani, Bhilai. This society strives for providing quality education suitably blended with the ethos of our most ancient culture of the world. It aims at inculcating the values of good conduct and morality that are fast eroding due to materialistic view of life.
